Phoenix Heater Installation Manual
Installation Manual for the Bio Green Phoenix Greenhouse Heater
Introduction
The Bio Green Phoenix is a versatile 2.8 kW electric greenhouse heater designed for uniform heating and air circulation in greenhouses and winter gardens. It features multiple heat settings (1000W, 1800W, 2800W), a built-in fan for ventilation, and frost protection capabilities. This manual provides step-by-step instructions for safe installation and operation. Always consult local electrical codes and, if necessary, a qualified electrician for installation.
Safety Instructions
- Read all instructions carefully before installing or operating the heater. Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or during installation.
- Use only with the specified voltage: 230V ~ 50/60 Hz (EU models) or 240V (US models). Never use a different voltage.
- Connect to a mains socket protected by a Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) or Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
- Electrical connections in a greenhouse must be performed by a qualified electrician.
- Do not wrap the power cord around the heater or operate with a coiled cord, as this can cause overheating.
- Position the heater at least 1 foot (30 cm) away from plants, walls, or any materials, and at least 2 feet (60 cm) from the front and back openings to ensure proper airflow and prevent fire hazards.
- The heater is splash-proof (IPX4 rating) but not fully waterproof; avoid direct water exposure.
- Never cover the heater or block air intakes/outlets.
- If unsure about usage, safety, or connections, consult an authorized specialist.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Unplug the heater when not in use or during maintenance.
Unpacking and Package Contents
- Carefully unpack the heater and check for any damage. If damaged, do not use and contact the supplier.
- Typical package contents include:
- Phoenix heater unit
- Floor mounting feet or brackets
- Hanging chains with snap hooks
- Power cord (approximately 6.2 feet long)
- User manual
Installation Options
The Phoenix heater can be installed as a floor-standing unit or hung from the ceiling for optimal air circulation.
Standing Installation (Floor-Mounted)
- Attach the supplied feet or brackets to the bottom of the heater. These typically clip or screw into designated slots on the housing.
- Place the heater on a stable, level surface in the greenhouse.
- Ensure the location allows for proper clearance as per safety instructions.
- Connect the power cord to a suitable outlet or extension cord rated for 240V/2800W.
Hanging Installation (Ceiling-Mounted)
- Identify the metal lugs or mounting points on the top of the heater housing.
- Attach the supplied chains using the snap hooks to the lugs.
- Secure the other ends of the chains to sturdy ceiling hooks or beams in the greenhouse using the remaining snap hooks. Ensure the mounting points can support the heater's weight (approximately 11 lbs / 5 kg).
- Adjust the chains so the heater hangs level and at a height that maintains the required clearances (at least 1 foot from plants and 2 feet from openings).
- The heater is now ready for use as a hanging unit.
Note: For both installations, ensure the air intake (on the back) and outlet (front with fan) are unobstructed.
Electrical Connection
- Plug the heater into a 230V/240V outlet or heavy-duty extension cord.
- If using an external thermostat (optional, like the included capillary thermostat ranging from -32°F to 79°F / 0-26°C), connect it according to the thermostat's instructions.
- Test the connection by turning on the heater briefly to ensure it powers up without issues.
Operating Instructions
The Phoenix heater features two selector switches for power modes and a thermostat knob for temperature control.
Selector Switch Modes
Use the switches to select from the following operating modes:
| Position | Selector Switch 1 | Selector Switch 2 | Function |
| Off | Off | Off | Apparatus not in operation |
| Fan Only | Fan | Off | Ventilation without heating |
| Low Heat | 1000W | Off | 1000W heating with ventilation (thermostat-controlled) |
| Med Heat | 1000W | 800W | 1800W heating with ventilation |
| High Heat | 1000W | 1800W | 2800W heating with ventilation |
- Set the thermostat to the desired temperature. The heater will cycle on/off to maintain it.
- For winter operation: Use 1800W or 2800W settings depending on greenhouse size (suitable for up to 216 sq ft / 20 m²).
- For autumn/spring: 1000W may suffice.
- For summer: Use fan-only mode for air circulation.
The heater also includes an energy-saving tube option in some models for condensation prevention (laid along walls).
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Unplug the heater before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Clean the air intake and fan grill periodically to remove dust.
- Inspect the power cord for damage annually.
- Store in a dry place when not in use.
- No user-serviceable parts inside; do not disassemble.
Troubleshooting
- Heater won't turn on: Check power supply, outlet, and switches. Ensure thermostat is set above ambient temperature.
- Insufficient heat: Verify mode selection and clearances. Clean filters if dirty.
- Overheating: Ensure proper ventilation; unplug and allow to cool.
- If issues persist, contact Bio Green support.
